Community Engagement Guidelines

Thanks for following/liking us!

The purpose of Autism BrainNet’s social communities is to share information about Autism BrainNet,
to provide research updates and to stay connected with you, the autism community. We are always
interested in hearing from individuals with ASD, family members of individuals with autism, researchers, community partners, service providers and anyone else looking to join the conversation.

With that in mind, here are some guidelines we ask all Autism BrainNet community members to follow. It is simply not possible for the Autism BrainNet team to review and/or confirm the accuracy and/or validity of every message before it is posted. If you believe someone has violated the community guidelines, please report it to us immediately by emailing [email protected].

BE KIND AND RESPECTFUL

We’ve created a positive, thoughtful, diverse and inclusive online community. Please extend courtesy and respect to fellow community members at all times. This community is meant to encourage scientific
discovery and excitement about autism research. To keep it going, we ask that you refrain from any use of profanity and offensive or discriminatory language. Do not make personal attacks. Feel free to express yourself passionately, but please do so with respect for everyone else involved in the conversation.

CONTENT POSTED ON THIS PAGE SHOULD BE RELEVANT TO AUTISM BRAINNET AND THE TOPICS UNDER DISCUSSION

We ask that content posted on this page be relevant to Autism BrainNet and the topics under discussion. It is not appropriate to advertise a business, product or service on this page and under no circumstances should solicitation occur on this page. We reserve the right to take appropriate measures, including the deletion of content or banning from the site anyone whose behavior we determine to be harmful to our community. If you feel we’ve been unfair in removing your comment, please reach out to us so we can discuss it.

THIS IS NOT A FORUM FOR GIVING MEDICAL ADVICE

Our page is a place for sharing vetted health information, not dispensing medical advice or opinion. Many who follow and interact with this page are involved in the larger health community (researchers, doctors, scientists, families, research sites, etc.). Any health and medical information posted on Autism BrainNet’s social channels is intended for general discussion and educational purposes only; it is not intended to serve as individual medical advice.

THIS ISN’T A PLACE TO TALK ABOUT PRODUCTS OR NON-SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN THEORIES

Since we have to be mindful of the regulations that govern the scientific community, we will remove any posts that reference medications or non-scientifically proven theories. If you are looking for information about medicines or therapy programs, please reach out to your doctor.
