Memories of Hope

December 16, 1970 — October 8, 2012

Mary Anaclerio was born December 16th, 1970. When she was diagnosed at age 3 with Autism, there was only 1 book in the local library about Autism. Autism research has come a long way and our family is grateful to be a part of this program.

Mary’s life was filled with love from family and friends. She was amazing with remembering birthdays of everyone she met. Mary lived life the way most of us dream of, she ate when she wanted to eat, she slept when she was tired, and didn’t talk to people she didn’t like.

She was a dog lover, loving aunt, incredible sister, and wonderful daughter. Mary taught our family many things that we will carry with us the rest of our lives. She taught was what unconditional love means and gave us all perspective on life, showing us what is really important.

Mary was diagnosed with terminal cancer in August of 2011 and lost her battle on October 8th, 2012.   Our family made the decision to donate her brain to research shortly after the diagnosis. Watching anyone battle cancer is tough, watching our Mary battle cancer and Autism at the same time was heartbreaking. We know that Mary’s name and legacy will live on through our family, we want her brain to be a piece that helps solve the puzzle that is Autism.
